I woke up thinking this is where I met him. I just scrolled through one of his "running blogs" that were always about pretty much everything but running, and remembered what a unique writer's voice he had, a really distinct personality that came through his writing. Part of me wishes he could have given his writing a little more direction (he tried and shared on occasion); part of me is glad that didn't happen, because it wouldn't have been Rich.

In person I remember how instantly welcoming of everyone and everything he was. I felt like I had known him all my life. Big, big heart. And, of course, funny.

I'm just really saddened by it and felt the need to come here and post this. Peace to all.

I always felt that I had a special bond with RuFuS... and I don't know why. Maybe everyone felt that way. He was such an amazingly irreverent prick, but with warmth and wit... that is a unique combination that few can pull off... but he did it. He had a brilliant mind.

He will be missed. RIP, Rich. And remember, you still owe me a beer.

RuFus was a great man. Loved his wit. Loved the rare phone calls, usually very late at night but always welcome.
We lost the funniest guy on the planet.
We lost another dear friend way to soon.

I'm sure he left many a legacy but Taper Madness is one of them! I talked to him a few times when I was going through my own personal issues and for not having met him in person it was pretty awesome how easy it was to talk about stupid shit and serious shit! Maybe because we were both drunk whenever we talked, but it was still awesome!

Even though we never ran or drank together in 3-D, I always had a fondness in my heart for that witty man from America's cornfields.

Rest in peace, RichScott. You brought joy to many during your few decades on this earth.
