We had one here a few months ago. Only race I ever heard of where the volunteers had to register and pay. These corporate race$ are drawing in the younger crowd, though... but for me no thanks. I already look like a zombie after about mile 10...

It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but if it encourages people to get out (have fun) and be aerobic, more power to 'em!

Kind of like those "dye" races. I have no interest in them, but my daughter (20) does, and if it gets her to even walk a 5k, I'm all for them.

Cool! I hadn't heard of Run or Dye races before. http://ca.runordye.com

Not my cup of tea, but the cardiovascular café is wide and accepts many participants. Whatever floats your boat and gets your heart a-pumping!

I agree ... whatever gets people motivated if great! While the fringe events (trail running ... but it is on the rise) struggle, novelty events (and I use that word loosely) like Tough Mudder - which I have done and am doing again and totally love - are on the rise. A running store owner I know says that it is easier to sell a pair of shoes to a person to use in a one time hyped up event than it is to sell a similarly priced pair of shoes to a runner that will last for months. The hype is real and it promotes fitness whether we like it or not! I say RUN FROM THE ZOMBIES!!!
